Langur monkeys live in the forest but often come to our house. Langurs are very easy to recognize because of their black face and grey fur. The word Langur means 'long tail'. These monkeys live in groups. Each group of monkeys has a huge male who is the lead monkey. When there is danger, it gives a call sounding like boo.

The Langur monkey is sacred because people believe that Hanuman, the monkey God of the Hindus, was a Langur.
