Cut the shape of a squirrel in a coloured paper.
Cut thin stripes of coloured paper. Roll the stripes to make a coil and stick them on the squirrel's tail. This will make its tail bushy.
Glue the squirrel on another paper to make the background.
Now your squirrel is ready.

When we walk in the forest of
Panchgani-Mahabaleshwar Plateau, we see the Giant Malabar Squirrel. It is a huge reddish brown (just like the colour of a fox) squirrel that jumps from tree to tree. It is the state animal of
Maharashtra. I am always very excited when I spot it.

Story by Muriel Kakani
This story begins in the Gir forest in Gujarat. There lived a lion called Narasimha. He was a young lion in age to start a pride of his own. But as the Gir Sanctuary was overcrowded with
lions and people, he couldn't find a place to establish his territory.
Narasimha left Gir and after many days, he reached the Vindhya hills in Central India. After a search of many days, he found a perfect territory to setttle down.
Unfortunately, nearby lived a Royal Bengal tiger who was very fierce. The tiger's name was Raja.
One day, the two big cats met and fought together trying to find out who was the real king of the jungle.
The fight was going on when suddenly they heard a gunshot.
"Run," shouted Raja. "Hunters are here."
Both of them ran into the jungle.
After that Narashimha asked: "You saved my life. Why did you do that?"
Raja replied, "We both are cats, we both are endangered. If we want to survive, we have to be together."
The Gir lion or Asiatic lion is an endangered animal. The Gir lion is smaller than the African lion. It has a smaller mane.

Langur monkeys live in the forest but often come to our house. Langurs are very easy to
recognize because of their black face and grey fur. The word Langur means 'long tail'. These monkeys live in groups. Each group of monkeys has a huge male who is the lead monkey. When there is
danger, it gives a call sounding like boo.
The Langur monkey is sacred because people believe that Hanuman, the monkey God of the Hindus, was a Langur.
